  • Frump Dump

    • GodDAMM this moodiness of mine, and a POX on the frumps!  I swear.....I should change my name to Upson Downs.

(When the frumps visit me, I tend to stay away from other people, which probably just prolongs the agony.  But I can’t even stand myself, so why subject friends & family to such an irascible persona?)

    • Talked/conned a good Samaritan into cutting the downed tree limb into manageable pieces, but two days later, another huge limb promptly dropped from the sky.  It’s smaller though....perhaps I can drag it to the burn pile.

(Sorry Wissh, despite your encouragement I am still a big bucking chicken when it comes to chain saws.  I did see something that Black & Decker makes though -- I think they call it an Alligator.  It looks like it might prevent former urban bohemians like me from cutting any human limbs off, so perhaps I’ll invest in one of those......)

    • The Weed Whacker parts that I ordered arrived, but whacking will have to wait.  If I attempt to use machinery while in the throes of the frumps, I tend to hurt myself.  Not to mention swearing like a Marine.

    • I really NEED XM Satellite Radio, but only on Wednesdays at 10 a.m.  That’s when Dylan is DJ-ing “Theme Radio Hour.”  But gawd, the thoughts of PAYING for radio are anathema to me.  It’ll turn out to be just like cable TV -- $xx.xx per month and nothing on.  Except Dylan on Wednesdays.

    • The birds went through 40 pounds of seed last week -- avian baby season is upon us -- so I stocked up & bought 80 pounds just to keep from having to go to the bird seed store for a couple weeks.  Heavy stuff, bird seed.

    • Wonder why new grass grows faster than old grass?

    • The county clerk's staff finally returned from the CON-frence, so the car titles got transferred successfully.  It only took 2 hours & 13 minutes of trekking back & forth between departments at the courthouse......departments which are across the street from one another, mind you.  Oh yeah.....and about 4 Excedrin.

    • Safe deposit box remains in limbo until whenever I can kick myself out of this frump.  See above regarding swearing like a Marine.

    • Does anyone drive a Pontiac Vibe or a PT Cruiser?  I think I need one or the other, but would like to get some input first from current owners.  No hurry though --  I can’t go around making major decisions until the frumps depart.

    • Watched a show about the 60s yesterday.  It all looks so different when looking back.  Not like I remember it at all.  How could so many of us have sold out?  Here we are all these years later and have we learned anything?  Are we giving peace a chance?  As they say here in the south -- Hail NO!  (“Hail” is suthern for “Hell.”)  And Shee-itt, FAR!  (“Far” is suthern for “Fire.”)  It ain't worse I don't guess, but it ain't better, either.  We may as well have Nixon in the White House again.

    • Later, I caught parts of another show featuring McNamera.  Or however you spell that evil lying jerk’s name.  Old interviews with the rat bastard.  Whut a total waste of air time.  And those dreadful teeth of his!  Eeeew.  No surprise there though -- one wouldn’t expect Beelzebub to have nice teeth, would one?

    • The old upright freezer in the garage coughed up its last breath of cold air and died.....taking a bunch of food with it.  Stink, stank, stunk.  And yuckarutchie, too.  But I did remember to thank GAWD for Clorox.

    •  Happy Father’s Day, Pop!  Yep, I can see you peeking through that cloud at me and hear you telling me these frumps shall pass.  Fortunately I still remember ALL the wisdom you imparted over the years.  It was and is invaluable as hell!  And I love you.

    •  Also Happy Father’s Day to the following Dads:  (1) Amazing Grace & IamLuke’s; (2) Aidan the Pensive’s; (3) Miss Madison, Bubby & Sissy’s; and (4) Genevieve the Charmer’s.

    • More to come on an unfrumpy day.  Over and out.

  • Hello,

I saw your comment on "The Crow's Nest" site, about being deprived from hearing Booker, Fess, Dr. John or the Nevilles.  Well, just to let you know, that I'm here to help!  I bet Kaz and Czarny Kruk will help out too!

  • What kind of birds? You keep chickens, or feed wild birds?

  • discoballworld drives a pt cruiser........incase you might like to ask her about hers....

  • Boy.

And my only problem was a wiper blade.

    I should count my blessin's.

    Haw.

  • I promise you, I'll try to get this album done as quick as possible!  I'm sorry for perfectionistic ways!  And yeah, Floyd Cramer's music is classic.  Love that beautiful "slip-note" piano of his.  Great stuff, and it get's smiles from audiences here in Oklahoma!

So, what all can you tell me about Taj Mahal?  I had an album of his a while back, one of those "two-in-one" sets, consisting of "Giant Steps" and "De Old Folks at Home".  And that stuff wasn't bad at all.  What would you recommend?

  • Sistah in frumpadelics!  I hear ya!  You're not alone!  Nor in going through tons of bird food.  We also are going through a fortune in squirrel food.  We have a gorgeous squirrel like none I've ever seen -- black fur down to his hind legs which then turn into a beautiful reddish brown.  He (she?) looks like he's wearing mink pants.   Does this sound like any squirrels you have?  I'm thinking he (she?) might be a transplant from somewhere else.  All our other squirrels are gray.  Do your chipmunks like to tease the squirrels, too, ie. run straight at them, then change directions at the last moment?  Crazy.   Whew.  At least they're good for the frumpadelix.   Frumpy is bumpy.  Wishing you better and unfrumpy days in the imminent future.

  • I'm right there with you in Frumpland. What fun, eh? Hey, at least we have each other to play gin rummy with.

I like Keb and Taj myself. Good call.

  • The frumps must be contagious or else they were released from a canister of some sort into the atmosphere... ther are a lot of people feeling frumpy right now, and they are all ove the place.... maybe we can beat it if we all wear tie-dyed .pschedelic, glow in the dark under black light clothes and tune every radio into some oldies station and I dunno maybe we should do it at say....4:20.....

  • RYC: Funny you should mention that. When we got into the vet's office, I, speaking to the dog, said, "Sit, Fatty." The vet ran to the chair in the corner and sat.

  • I watched the 60s shows on VH1 and was subjected to another and neither portrayed the 60s I remember. Nostalgia sucks and should be banished from the earth.

"It is not necessary to imagine the world ending in fire or ice. There are two other possibilities: one is paper work, and the other is nostalgia."  --Frank Zappa

  • Whenever I come across a Xanga site with Kentucky listed as "State" I have to say howdy.

    Howdy.

Then I wait for a reply at my site and if they happen to use the word "y'all" I see where they put the apostrophe. After which I ask them to pronounce "Louisville," squeal like a wildcat and see if they know who Denny Crum and Adolph Rupp are. If they pass this three prong test, I'm almost assured they're true Kentuckians.

    Be gone frumps!

    Peace.

  • MKD drives a Vibe... he loves it! runs great -- good on gas, he says it was named car of the year somwheres...

oh, and your "frumps" I call my "outtasorts" (not that you asked or anything).

(linked from Gadus' in case you were wond'rin')

  • RYC: You passed the three pronged test even though it was only a two pronged one for you.

I was bornt and raised in "LOO-uh-vulle," but I've lived here in PA as a displaced Kentuckian since '88. I've no relatives here but my wife and kids and my wife's family. All my folks live in south-central Kentucky, 'cept for my older brother, he lives on the outskirts of Louisville.

Pleased to emeet ya. Yer now subbed dude, or dudette (there was a band known as The Subdudes, ever hear of 'em?).

  • Hey, I miss you! Yesterday was the biggest frump day ever! I thought of you. Luckily (?!) I have ADD so once the next day arrives (or the next moment) I promptly forget the frumps and move on. Seems the disorder does have good good points. I hope you're feeling better by now and aren't buried in weeds. StW wussed out and bought one of those alligators too. (Oh sure, after all the BIG trees have been cut down!)

Feef, I can't even tell you have often I've reread your email. You're better'n a Meeting in helping me feel better. (Not quite as good as DQ but I'm boycotting the place until they remove all calories from their dairy products.)

  • Hope you are having a wonderful Friday night.
    Tricia

  • Still frumpin' ? ( why does that sound kinky ? ) well frump no more! you get a week, then the frump license expires and you have to like get drunk or something, dance on a table at the local dive and have your picture on E! online...... c'mon woman... pull up them boots and come sloshing through the puddles with me... it rainin' buckets here and we can get so soaked that no one will notice a few tears.... and then you can laugh at me when I slip in the mud ....

  • Feef, don't abandon us now. I'm hoping you're on vacation or something. Look how hard poor Beth is trying ^ there. Don't make me call you. Teme and I are phoneophobic...but I will if I have to. (Of course I could just sic [sick? sik? sihk?] Goobe-r on you.)  Oh, I know, I'll text. (Is the number I have your cell or home?)  AJ texts too. He's only called once, but texts all the time. That makes 3 of us now so socially retarded we text intead of call (Teme will kill me for that if she reads that.)

Feel better soon. OMG, you haven't been consumed by mosquitos, have you?
