  • New Ride

Painful as it was, it's done.

Exhaustion rules after several days of (a) looking at every Vibe from here to Halifax, (b) talking  haggling with every car dealer from here to Halifax, and (c) spending hours at computer research on Kelley Blue Book, CarFax, AutoCheck, etc.

Au revoir Batmobile.  I hope your new owner loves you as much as Lindsey (and I) did.

The thing is, I wasn't at all keen on doing this.  But it was the right thing to do because

    • mom-in-law had too much trouble getting in/out of the Firebird
    • thought I should trade before I racked up any more mileage
    • couldn't face another winter of rear-wheel drive -- too scarey!
    • price of gas -- sheesh!
    • young girls were always so bummed out when it was me instead of a young hunk driving
    • taking 3 dogs & a cat 35 miles to a vet in a Firebird is NOT fun -- for them OR me
    • those enormous airplane DOORS
    • one simply cannot HAUL stuff in a sports car

So my heart has a big crack in it, but I have a new car......

    Vibe1
...that looks pretty much like everybody else's car.

        With a sunroof.

I shall be back when I stop feeling like Oscar The Grouch.

  • Oh, it definitely isn't a Firebird, but it's new.
Hopefully you will learn to love it.
    Hugs, Tricia

  • I do know how you feel... I had a bright orange Bronco II that I loved... but alas as all cars eventually do, it crapped out on me... nothing is the same... lol...
However, this new vehicle looks wonderful and I am sure it will serve you well and save you gas, so I know you will be loving it soon...

  • I had cool cars, now I have an old Jetta (US) and a lovely Micra (Ireland - 60 mpg city). Few style points, but I get my entertainment elsewhere.

  • I know what you mean, I went from a Triumph Spitfire to a pickup then to an Xterra. It seems like the more dogs I have, the larger the interior space of my vehicle becomes.

    Happy Monday!

    Love,

    B

  • ryc: that was so lovely of you. truly, thank you.

  • RYC: Your friend does have a wonderful attitude. When I am not working sometimes I don't know what day it is, and she is right, who the hell cares. Unfortunately, Skooter's dad was a real ass about having Alzhiemers (I can never remember how to spell that word, lol) and I am afraid Skooter will be too. I have to work on that.

Enjoy the new ride, but it is still not a Firebird...

    Hugs, Tricia

  • Nice ride. What breed is it? Looks like one of those new hybrids.

RYC: I'm anxious to see if our watermelons will "do" here in zone 5's relatively short growing season.

  • I think it should have a name, Bagheera would do, but that would only work if it was black.

  • As our Mustang sits dead (again) in the garage, I've come to the conclusion that nothing is cooler than a reliable car that gets you where you want to go the way you want to get there.

  • I love it!  It's cute, and the gas economy should be a treat!  I got a little Hyundai, not much larger.  They tried to sell me an alarm system.  I said, "Are you kidding?  When did you hear of anyone stealing a HYUNDAI?"  He smiled and nodded.

You'll be amazed at what you can fit in these little puppies, too!

  • nice car, but you should have gotten a red one !
